For the first time, we’ve seen the 6 hippo together in the Waagschaalvlei! Five hippo were reintroduced to the area by the Nuwejaars SMA in 2010. The new calf become the first hippo to be born on the Agulhas Plain in about 150 years. We’re so happy they are doing so well!
The fires were lit to a proud day of Heritage and we couldn’t have done it without your support. Our grand total of 199 guest all contributed to a very festive day and thanks to your participation in the Black Oystercatcher 1km Braai Day we raised a total of R5747 for the Nuwejaars SMA.
We are looking for a Chef for Black Oystercatcher Restaurant. Location : 27 km outside Bredasdorp on Elim Road. Chef who is strong in all the areas of the kitchen and will be responsible for running and managing the kitchen effectively. Closing date: 31 Oct 2014
Birdwatching in the Overberg. During the past weekend Dr Wim de Klerk saw the Red-chested Flufftail (Rooiborsvleikuiken) op nearby wine farm, Strandveld Vineyards. “Hierdie spesie kom waarskynlik wyd voor in die park en SMA, maar word nie aangeteken nie omdat hy so skelm is.”
