The latest Agulhas Plains Birding Project report has found a range of interesting new bird species on the Plain – including on the Black Oystercatcher Wine farm. The Black Oystercatcher is a member of the Nuwejaars Wetland SMA.
Celebrating Heritage Day in the Overberg has never been easier – or more fun. The Black Oystercatcher Wines will light the fires on 24 September, to not only unite South Africans around a braai, but to promote a unique conservation initiative set in the Overberg.
An innovative conservation venture in the Agulhas Plain, at the southernmost tip of Africa, has reintroduced animals that became extinct in the area in the 1800s. And a number of wine farms in the Elim Wine Ward form a central part of this initiative.
The Human family of Black Oystercatcher Wines has a special connection with the Agulhas National Park. They have sold a special holiday site that was in the family for about 44 years to SANParks in 2001. This site is where the Agulhas Rest Camp is today.
