Black Oystercatcher, part of the Nuwejaars Wetland Protected Environment (responsible for the introduction of hippos and buffalo into the area and hosting the quagga breeding project) is excited to host the first of what we hope will be annual Black Oystercatcher 1 km Heritage Day Braai for Conservation.
Our goal is to have a 1 km continuous braai with one grid every 5 m. We have cleared a 1 km x 10 m wide strip of alien trees, to supply us with braai wood for this fun-filled Heritage Braai. This area will be inspected and cleared annually to ensure the sustainable conservation of this wetland.
