The Black Oystercatcher team joined the festivities at the Elim Wine Festival at the weekend. The festival showcased ten of the Elim Wine Ward’s top wines, including the Black Oystercatcher Wines, Strandveld, Lomond and Ghost Corner, among others.
Hundreds of festival go-ers attended the day, which was held at Black Oystercatcher’s neighbour, Strandveld Wines on Saturday. It aimed to introduce visitors to the wines emanating from South Africa’s youngest winemaking region. The region is gaining prominence for its cool climate wines, and has been recognised internationally, in particular for its Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Winemakers from the ten wineries offered special tutored tastings during the festival. Aside from the wine and local food on offer, visitors also enjoyed 34km and 60km mountain bike rides and 15km and 8km trail runs and walk. Local artist Valiant Swart entertained the crowds in the afternoon.
This was the fourth year the festival has taken place.
