A wedding with a fabulous surprise

Their roots may be deep in the Strandveld. But Luzanne & Dane made their wedding an international affair, bringing guests to the Black Oystercatcher from as far as Australia.

This was an exceptional evening. With help from a team of family and friends (making use of a wide selection of local fynbos), the venue was transformed to a stylish but still very warm and inviting atmosphere. And for the couple and their venue decorators, no tiny detail was too small.

Guests sat down to a hearty meal of whole braaied beef rump accompanied by a zesty chimichurri sauce and roasted beetroot salad to cool them down in the summer heat. The night was highlighted with a surprise pig on the spit – organised by the Black Oystercatcher team, to the delight of the couple and their guests. Dinner concluded with a selection of cakes crafted by Nicole Concer from Table Café.

This was a wedding of laughter and Strandveld memories.

In the words of the bride, Luzanne:

“I want to thank Sandra and Salmon for putting together a marvellous wedding for us. As we live overseas, we imagined that we would run into a lot of issues and end up with a wedding that didn’t match what we had envisioned. We had nothing to be afraid of…. the team at Black Oystercatcher made it a breeze, remained patient with us and managed to put on an evening we’ll never forget! As you can imagine, the actual event is a busy one for the married couple; but one thing we definitely noticed was that everyone enjoyed themselves! The food…… My mouth is watering even now! Knocked it out of the park and was beyond what we were expecting. If you want a great wedding, I would recommend the Black Oystercatcher.”

The Black Oystercatcher is one of the prettiest venues that we looked at and marrying here was definitely the best choice we could make.

Our Wedding Venue

The wedding venue with a difference

We added a new venue to our centuries-old farmstead in 2016. It’s a venue that merges perfectly with the rich Overberg country: glass doors and windows all around, connecting you to nature.

Exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and a large veranda leading out to the infinity pool. And beyond that, the stretching Agulhas Plain countryside. Find out more.
