The natural wonder of the Agulhas Plain

No winery can operate without water.

We’re 15 days into spring, but we’re still waiting for the real winter rains to come here at the Black Oystercatcher.

So it’s vital to not only use water wisely; but to also care for our water supply. Ours is a complex water network. We don’t just turn on a tap. Rather, we’re part of water system that flows all around, and even below us.

It’s a system that has become famous in conservation circles around the world – a true natural wonder of the Agulhas Plain.

So in a tribute to our corner of earth, you’re invited to connect with these wonderful #waterscapes, the wildlife and of course, all the wine-making action, in a special Wine Club opportunity.

Stay two nights in our country self-catering cottages during the week on the Black Oystercatcher Wine Farm, and get the third night free.
(Only until 31 October.)

Hike, watch birds, enjoy a wine tasting (and of course only the freshest meals from our Restaurant), and meet the Black Oystercatcher team during your stay. What to bring? Definitely your camera; your walking shoes (lots of lovely hikes around us), and your bike (same for the cycling routes). Or just be ready to relax.

Dirk Human is taking winemaking at the Black Oystercatcher a step further this year. He has a plan – and it involves you as a Wine Club member.

It’s a winemaking quest – to capture the complexity of our Sauvignon blanc, created by our unique terroir.

You see, we have four very different, very unique soil types here. So this year, you can join Dirk as he makes three different Sauvignon blancs, off the three most prominent marginal soils.
